Everyone agrees that traditional Chinese paintings are very beautiful. Not only in China, but also in other foreign countries, Chinese paintings can attract people’s eyes easily. In fact, there are some reasons for its popularity and fame.
First of all, Chinese painters have developed an interest in observing nature in different ways. As a result, the wonderful works painted by these artists are very delightful. Here is an example – the shrimps painted by QI Baishi. They are so lively that they seem to come out of the painting and into the room! Besides this, the tools the Chinese painters use is very special. Unlike western artists, Chinese painters painted with a soft brush and black inks to paint landscapes instead of using the oil paint. While they are painting, they add their own imagination to the work that aims to show the life of a subject. How wonderful it is!
So without a doubt, more and more people fall in love with Chinese paintings. I’m sure Chinese paintings will be more and more popular in the world!
Some people say that it isn’t half as important as science. This is absolutely nonsense! In fact, art is so powerful that it not only provides us with beauty but also has a big effect on people’s life. Let me give you an example.
The oil painting Memory of My Hometown – Two Bridges was painted by a famous contemporary Chinese artist Chen Yifei in the early 1980s. Chen was studying in America for his master’s degree then. He wanted to express his love for his hometown. Although he was born in Zhejiang Province, he was deeply impressed by the scene in Zhouzhuang, a small poor town in Jiangsu Province which he had visited before. Unknown to the outside world, Zhouzhuang is a town surrounded by water, whose scene is quite similar to that of his hometown in Zhejiang. So he painted this picture. When the painting was on show at an exhibition, it was bought by a very rich American businessman, who gave it to Deng Xiaoping as a gift when he came to visit China. Deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery of Zhouzhuang shown in the painting, Deng told the central government to put a lot of money into developing this town. As a result, Zhouzhuang has become a well- known tourist attraction and attracts millions of tourists from all over the world, bringing in over 700 million yuan a year from its tourism every year.
So, you can see, art is as important as science because it can greatly improve people’s life.
